ELIJA Farm is a sustainable, nonprofit farm located on Long Island’s North Shore, dedicated to growing high-quality, hand-tended produce using environmentally responsible practices without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. The farm operates a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program that supplies local families with seasonal vegetables, herbs, and flowers while fostering a direct connection between growers and the community. Founded in 2016 by special education expert Debora Thivierge on land previously farmed by the Foglia family, ELIJA Farm integrates vocational and learning opportunities into its agricultural work, inviting volunteers and individuals of diverse abilities to participate in cultivation, harvesting, and distribution. The farm stand and seasonal CSA activities bring fresh, nutritious produce to Long Islanders and support experiential education, community engagement, and sustainable living!

Each year the Benner Family Farm — a private fifteen-acre family homestead that was first farmed in the 1700’s — provides thousands of people a sense of what it was like to live on a small farm in years past through workshops, festivals and special events. At the farm, you can explore the historic grounds, attend festivals or enjoy the farm’s engaging educational programs! Some of the programs include learning all about Maple Sugaring in February, celebrating strawberries in June, taking a haunted hayride and picking pumpkins in the fall. You can even take a ride on the biggest swing on Long Island, which is hung from the largest and oldest white oak in the Three Villages. All of this and more is found on the North Shore in Benner’s Family Farm!

Ed and Monica Harbes, embodying the family’s farming spirit, began their journey in Mattituck in 1978. What started with Super Sweet Corn and a small gazebo blossomed into a renowned agritainment destination. Pumpkins, corn mazes, hayrides, and a Barnyard Adventure area showcase their commitment to creating joyous farm experiences for families. With three locations built on the ethos of “country fun for everyone,” Harbes Farms has become synonymous with creating enduring memories. The family’s dedication extends beyond entertainment to sustainable farming practices. Employing environmentally responsible methods, they prioritize soil health, utilize compost, practice crop rotation, and promote reduced tillage. Over 50 conserved acres underscore their commitment to preserving agricultural land for future generations.

The farm, located at Sisters of St. Joseph in Brentwood, grows a wide variety of fresh produce and is committed to “clean growing” – no pesticides or chemicals used. Farmers Dan and Gina Napolitano started the farm in 2018 to provide Long Islanders a source of quality fruits and veggies grown on their farm. They launched a community-supported agriculture (CSA) program, where individuals and families can become members, buying a share of the farm before the season begins and then receiving a weekly share of produce throughout the season. Membership applications for 2022 are live on the website now!

It’s easy to fall for White Post Farms where a visit sets a delightful tone like the kind you enjoy on a family vacation. Only it’s close by and exceeds your expectations when the family wants to pick pumpkins, take a hayride or see animals. Hours of memorable entertainment here include a visit to a giraffe enclosure where you meet Patches and Oliver and “Poppies Lorikeet Landing” to see the colorful free-flying birds. Treats don’t stop there. The farm has a petting zoo, primate exhibit, gourmet market, and garden center. Visitors seem to love the aviary and letting birds eat out of your hands or land on their shoulders.
